Hi, I’m Kasia, an illustrator living in the lively port district of Leith in Edinburgh. Illustration isn’t just my job, it’s my passion. I’m a huge animal lover, utterly addicted to pancakes, and I absolutely adore the scent of lilacs in May. Welcome to my studio!
Tell us about your studio
My studio is a little slice of creative heaven located in Leith, Edinburgh, just a stone’s throw from the sea. It’s a bright, airy space with a big window that lets in the ever-changing Scottish light. The walls are full of mood boards and various bits of inspiration I’ve picked along the way. It’s not just a workspace for me; it’s where my ideas soar and come to life.
How often are you in your studio
I’m here almost every weekday. I’m committed to keeping weekends for family, friends, and some much-needed me-time. It’s crucial to maintain a healthy work-life balance, especially when your studio is also your home. I’ve learned the importance of setting boundaries for my mental wellbeing.
What is your favourite thing about your studio
The location and views, hands down. I live in an actively working sea port, so my daily walks are filled with sights of ships, fishermen, lighthouses and the seagulls are always part of the soundtrack. You have to be prepared for the cold winds and occasionally chilly weather we have here , but the rewards are incredible—the views and skies that change color and mood by the hour. And if you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the aurora lighting up the winter sky!
What do you keep in your work space for inspiration?
My space is filled with art prints I discovered online or at local markets and from fellow designers, a mix of comic books and magazine clippings. There’s also my studio’s star—Mathilde, a furry mascot of a highland cow sitting proudly on a shelf, watching over me every day!
What are you working on right now?
Right now, I’m working on a cool new Mother’s Day card collection. It’s all about bright colors, fun vibes, and lots of heart. Aiming for chuckles and touching moments, these cards are all about celebrating the unique bonds we share, whether it’s with moms, mother figures, or those special people who’ve stepped into that role to bring love to our lives, this collection is a tribute to them all.
